    Once upon a time.

When we were still kids. Toddlers leading a simple life, when the only challenge was to reach things that are on the tabletop. Don't we all miss those times? Those times, when mum and dad were your heros, when younger siblings were your best friends, those days before going out to the playground was replaced by being hunched in front of your laptop Facebooking.

Look at us now. How different can we get?

As a teenager, I confess: sometimes I feel that the world is unfair, that no one understood me, that I was right and everyone else was wrong. Stress is a killer. Rebellion is the norm for us. Where were those days, when there wasn't a single worry in the world, when studies, family, friends and love, did not hold challenges for us? When the world was such a wonderful place?

    Gone.

Over in the blink of an eye.

To cherish. This is what we lack. The ability to cherish what we have. Why, I hear you ask, am I addressing such an issue, an issue that everyone is aware of, a grandma's advice to her grandchildren? Isn't this particularly pointless? No. It is not.

Ask yourself. Have you always known in your heart, that cherishing what you have is the right thing to do? Of course you have. But have you actually felt it? Have you ever really grasped the reality of the situation? Have you ever spared more than just a moment to remind yourself, what you have won't always be? Not everyone are able to do that.

Every morning, when you wake up, who is there to get you your toast? Who's the one who earns the money to buy your toast? Who are the ones teaching you in school? Who are the ones who help you with schoolwork? Who are they, the people always by your side, no matter what? You parents. Your teachers. Your friends. Everyone.

They could all be gone one day.

And when that day comes, the regret will be overpowering.

Thank your mother for getting you breakfast. Bid your father goodbye when he drops you off at school. Greet the teachers whenever you see them. Laugh with your friends and remember the joy. Help your siblings with their work. Little things like these, they help you make the most of your time spent with loved ones.

Because they're the ones whom you should be eternally grateful for.

To cherish them till the end.
